Newcrest Mining Ltd operates a gold mining plant in Pupua New Guinea. Waste slurry is transported through a HDPE pipe, constructed via HDD) and disposed of in seawater. This HDPE will be replaced with new pipestring installed using HDD rig. HDD support engineering included;
- Analysing HDPE pipe stresses as pipestring is being maneuvered and pulled into location around existing onshore facilities.
- Analysing HDPE pipestring, crane locations and lift heights as its being lifted into a break over position and fed into HDD rig using FEA and modeling.
